Has anyone seen them? If so, how were they, and how is Sami Yaffa working out?

They should call it a day... I hope they are not using the New York Dolls name still, its disrespectful to members that have died.

Actually, they are using it, and Sami is their bassist. A lot of people feel as you do. For my part, I'm ambivalent. I'm sorry they didn't reunite back when more of them were alive. I remember when I first met Jerry Nolan, great guy and great drummer.

I read it. He mentions that his later band, The Brats, was more or less a Dolls spinoff. It peeves me a bit that he insults glam. He says The Brats dressed more like C&W bands, what with the rhinestones, uh-huh. Nudie did make suits that appealled to glamsters, but I would not say The Brats resembled C&W bands. Rather, they looked more like The Dolls if they were always wearing tight, decorated suits. More like the UK bands who were more spivvy, I'd say.
I found it funny that he manges to praise both Kiss and Asmith, as those two bands are routinely slammed by vets from that same scene.

from what i heard they, the 'new' band, sound tight. i might catch their show in philly in may. i'm still on the fence. i might want to just remember the dolls the way that i do now, if you know what i mean.
here is a good interview with rick rivets that i came across ... rick is a good guy, down to earth and what not.

when you click on the interview there is an option to switch to english.

I know where you are coming from. You have memories about a certain band, from their "golden age", and you don't wish to see them ruined by watching the band trash themselves as well as your memories.
I'll read that interview. There was a huge argument elsewhere over the actual role he actually had in The Dolls, and I'd like to see if that is addressed.

he addresses his time in the dolls and when and why he left. i can see where arguments would occur. he is technically a founding member but left before 'the dolls' really came into their own.
it's a pretty decent read, worth the time if you have it.
